I came across this biography of Valerie Solanas and found that it might explain why she has such negative feelings towards males. As a child, she was sexually molested by her father. Her grandfather whipped her. In high school, her boyfriend got her pregnant. She was a prostitute for a while. She has had numerous traumatic experiences with males and I would assume these happenings account for her hatred towards males. Her plays about a mother strangling a son, her murder of Andy Warhol, "SCUM", and her other radical actions seem to be a result of her personal background. I find it somewhat humorous that she insists people change their thoughts, when she is so set in her ways. Her troubled past hinders her from seeing anything other than the bad in men.
(P.S. I hope I did this assignment right - but, I did it early, just incase it's wrong so I have time to fix it. If I didn't complete the assignment appropriately or sufficiently, could you please let me know [so I can fix it and be prepared for future blog posts]?)
This blog entry is just fine. It is informative and offers more information that was discussed in class. Each week we have an optional prompt but you can also simply respond to the week's readings.
