Technology is a buzzword to these people, nothing more

In both SCUM and the Black Panther demands, technology is mentioned. Most of the statements about technology are used in support of the author's thesis, but are non-factual opinions that wouldn't hold true in the real world. In SCUM, it is said that most jobs could have been automated by this point, so that everyone could do only creative work, and money would be unnecessary. While jobs can be automated, most products and foods are higher quality when they are hand-crafted. Machines that automate jobs would need invention and maintenance that wouldn't exist without money to motivate it. The Black Panthers demand community control of technology, citing that capitalist businessmen are robbing the people by not creating enough jobs with the technology. There are so many things wrong with this. Nobody would be paid to improve technology if it were public and free. Individual companies hiring people and commanding assets sets a structure for a stable economy by providing a path for cash flow, and by creating competition. If a certain business is corrupt, people can simply buy from the less corrupt competitor which is more practical than rebelling against 'the businessman' whom nobody actually NEEDS to buy anything from (they simply want to). Just as people can vote with their money to fight the corrupt businessman, the solution for SCUM's problems lies more in the individual than with 'Big Brother' as well. If women want there to be more creative jobs, they can pursue that career path themselves. If they want their products to be automated rather than be made by men, they can eat at McDonalds and buy microwave dinners rather than shopping at the farmer's market or eating at restaurants with male chefs.
