That doesn't seem right. Then again, I think we lose a lot of power with words that we used to take very seriously. "War" meant prepare yourself for a struggle, "marriage" meant for life, and "revolution" meant the world was going to change forever. Now, everything is different. War doesn't mean the same thing it used to, marriage can range from Britney and K-Fed to the Prince Charles and Kate Middleton; so it's only fitting that the definition of revolution is subjective.
The quote which I used to title this blog is one of my favorites - by Steve Jobs.
"Those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do."
I had to stop and think about this quote after our discussion on Wednesday. So those who want to make a change in the world - rather those who actually think they can make it happen - they have to be a little crazy. I wonder if I had grown up in a society where girls were not treated as equals, would I feel the discrimination as obviously as they make it seem or would it seem normal? Don't get me wrong, I am unbelievably appreciative that I have equal opportunity and I wouldn't have it any other way, but I can't help but wonder. Am I experiencing anything right now that I just think is normal, but might change in 50 years?
"Born in Flames" portrayed this struggle for fairness and equality. It showed that you do have to be a little crazy to meet your goal. However, if you're trying to push all boundaries, where do you draw the line? It can go way too far - as the end of the movie proved.
