Revolution

After watching the film, "Born in Flames," the question if a revolution is possible without violence was brought up. Using history to give us some indication to the answer of this question, the answer would have to be no. Unless there is a revolution I am not aware of, every revolution in history has had acts of violence. Even in revolutions such as the civil rights movement, where non violent civil disobedience is practiced, violent actions are taken by the groups opposing the revolution. This is why I not believe revolution without violence is possible, there will always be an opposition to revolution, and there will always be violent actions taken by the opposing group. I hope that I am wrong, because I would love to see the day where people are able to create revolutions in favor of progression towards a better society, without the use of violence by any group.
