It was really astounding to me to realize how much "hidden Freud" was in popular culture, tv, movies, and displayed in the lives of people that I know. I first thought of an episode that I watched of "How I Met Your Mother" from season 7 called: Noretta. In this episode, after Robin's therapist boyfriend tells the group that it is normal to "wind up with someone like your parents," Lily, Barney, and Marshall are all horrified to find that they partners are just like their parents. They have the full episode on netflix, and there is a preview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-McNicIPkk
It was interesting to think about how many other instances of Freud there were that I have found. It was weird to me that I didn't know the meaning behind many of the jokes in tv shows or movies and why that was. Are we still scared of Freud's theories? Why do we not learn about Freud earlier to understand his theories and what sort of messages we are receiving in popular culture? It also makes me wonder what other kind of messages we are being sent in advertising and other forms of entertainment that affect us and inform us about or lives and decisions without us knowing how or why.
Great questions, keep thinking about them and analyzing the media you come across!
