After watching the Nip Tuck Clip that was shown in class, I was very surprised to how much a women's self esteem and confidence was affected by men in a matter of seconds. The pretty blonde women who thought of herself as perfect instantly believes that she was ugly. One thing I wanted to note about the film was that the perspective of beauty was from the doctor who taught that the girl looked average, while on the other hand the perspective of the club owner that thought that the girl was perfect. If all the women in the world were to look like the way that the doctor in Nip Tuck intended for them to look, then all women will look the same in the sense.

On the other hand, when we look at how society is today we see how many social norms on how beauty and looks are has shaped our everyday decisions. In the Asian women community, having double eyelid surgeries, and having a nose job are very common. For example, when my sister went to Korean to visit a friend that she has not met in years, the first thing that her friend said to her when they met was "wow you look pretty, but if you get some double eyelids and a nose job you will look Hollywood." From there, my sister quickly notices how surgery is very prominent in the culture, and also notices that there are even guys in Korean that comform to having surgery as well.
